Behind Bars Update

Occasionally I get an email asking where I went. So... here I am. Hello everyone! It's been a while. To the few, consistent readers I had, all I can say is, "Sorry," and shrug. Life happened, what else can I say? I'm still out cycling and observing, but I've dialed things down. I don't cycle as much as I used to. Why? Who the hell knows. Part of it, I suppose, is that I like to bicycle now because I'm terrified of becoming fat. Don't worry, I still love and hoard motorcycles, but the prime of my riding and writing happened in Virginia - it was a two-wheeled mecca, and I didn't know how spoiled we were.

Germany was great, but... no bike! In Kansas I got a job editing grant proposals and textbook chapters. At the end of the day I didn't feel like telling the world how mediocre and prepubescently flat the state was. (Dear reader, today on the way to work I passed a large truck with very loud exhaust. It was very windy and very hot. I think I have a sunburn.) And to whoever that guy was who yelled at me for complaining about Kansas - Hey, I took your advice and left! I got a job editing textbook chapters and grant proposals, and was just too worn out by that to write at the end of the day. I also dialed back my motorcycle stories to focus on other projects. I've been working on novels. Yeah. Novels. I was too long winded for the blog format, anyway. The point is, I'm not very good at multitasking. Well, not when it comes to writing a bunch of stories at the same time. Anyway,Now we're in Colorado. even though we're in the process of buying a house, (and moving again, ugh, hopefully for the last time in quite a while,) and even though I've got a lot of other things to take care of, summer has arrived.

So there you go. No guarantees, but maybe I'll post a thing or two around here... but what I really need are funds to send my (*clears throat* one of my) books to an editor so I have a chance of getting published. My wife doesn't seem nuts on farming marijuana, which leaves me with exactly 0 other ideas. Shit, I'd start a fundraiser if I thought I'd make more than $20. (Thanks mom!)

  1. We are still here :-)
I haven't been as active on the blog either but I do post a lot on Google Plus. I hope you still riding even though the stories might not be there. Stay active, that's what's important.

    1. Hey George! Yeah, I don't ride as much as I used to. It's too bad, but I was so spoiled out in Virginia. We landed in Colorado now, so that helps, but I do miss the Blue Ridge. The Rockies are great, y'know, epic and all that, but they're not as approachable.

    2. But Colorado has such nice riding roads and mountains, the Million Dollar Highway is stunning.

  2. Good of you to check in. We're still here and lurking, waiting for the day when you grace us with your wit and sense of humor.

Colorado should be fun. I've heard it is the second best State, after Oregon that is. :-)

  3. As a wise person once told me, "it's all about two wheels." Where do I send $10?

  4. Have missed your adventures. The publishers would be lucky to snatch up someone with your skill of verse!
